Vivian Joos

April 4, 1926 — February 8, 2008

Vivian Joos, 81, Wimbledon, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2008 in Palm Springs, California. She is survived by husband, Allan, daughters, Alana Joos and Janna Joos, Palm Springs, CA, a son, Robert (Daly) Joos, Wimbledon, ND and her sister, Geraldine Behnke, Bacliff, TX. Vivian was born in Tyler, TX. She was working as a telephone operator in Corpus Christi when she met her future husband Allan. They were married on March 30, 1949. She was a nurturing, loving wife and mother and a hard working woman who will be greatly missed by her family and all of her friends. She especially enjoyed sewing clothes, often times creating patterns from scratch. She was an excellent artist, loved to draw, paint, ceramics, music and dancing. She recovered and restored furniture. She always had a soft heart for others and for animals, going out of her way to be a faithful caregiver. She would frequently visit many of the elderly, giving them comfort and home-baked goods. She fulfilled her role as a farm wife and mother without seeking fame or notoriety but she is certainly a star and heroine of the greatest magnitude. She was a self made woman who could roll up her sleeves and tackle any project at hand: from driving trucks and tractors to feeding cattle, to tending a garden to canning and processing the bounty. She was a barber and beautician, home decorator and demolition expert, painter an carpenter, counselor and confidant, lawn care specialist and rock painter, auto detailer and chauffer, catering specialist and chef, hostess and princess, bookkeeper and accountant, photographer and model, collector and organizer, mechanic and coordinator, historian and story teller, doctor and nurse, soldier and truce maker, disciple and sermon. ""Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant"" her hoped for heavenly acknowledgement. Vivian supported and worked hard on many projects, often volunteering for various community events in Wimbledon. She was bookkeeper many years for St. John's United Methodist Church, where she was also a member of the United Methodist Women. She made friends everywhere she went, even all around the world, traveling on the radio waves from the home sideband radio and across the highways in the family hippy van! Painting was a hobby when Allan and Vivian retired and spent their winters in Quartzsite, AZ. She leaves her family most wealthy by her example and contributions. Let us consider such an excellent example as hers and strive to honor her by emulating some of the same attributes she showed. And further let us look forward to that time when we shall be gathered together in that great reunion that is surely to come for all who live according to the faith she manifested by her deeds. She was preceded in death by parents and fourteen brothers and sisters.
