Walter Grommish

Walter J. Grommish, 91, Jamestown, North Dakota died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.

Walter was born September 17, 1916 in Courtenay, North Dakota, the son of Louis and Alice (Stabenow) Grommish. He grew and attended school in the Courtenay area.

He enlisted in the US Army on October 30, 1942 at Ft. Snelling, MN and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. Upon his discharge on Decemeber 1, 1945 he returned to North Dakota where he farmed in the Courtenay area all his life.

Walter enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, sports, especially watching baseball and football on television.

Walter is survived a sister, Josephine Carlson, Jamestown and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Quentin and a sister, Violet.

Funeral Service: 2:30 PM, Friday, September 21, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bryce Tahran officiating.

Visitation: 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Thursday, September 20, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Burial: Prairie View Cemetery, Wimbledon, North Dakota.
