Walter Hauf

Walter Hauf, 78 of Jamestown died Saturday, February 1, 2003 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, Jamestown.

Walter Hauf was born May 27, 1924 on a farm in Gerber township, northwest of Woodworth, ND to Julius and Pauline (Ferl) Hauf. He attended a rural school in Gerber township. Walter helped with farm chores and farming. In April of 1955, he went to Rapid City, SD to find other work. He worked in a bakery until the end of August when he returned to the farm. Walter married Elsie Zoller on May 11, 1956 in Jamestown. They lived on a farm for about one year, then they moved into Woodworth. Walter worked for various people in Woodworth before beginning his employment with Thompson Oil Company in 1961. In March of 1966, he began his 22 year employment with Central Dakota Village Nursing Home in Jamestown. After his retirement he kept busy with his woodworking projects.

Walter is survived by his wife, Elsie Hauf of Jamestown, ND; one daughter, Elaine (Myron) Kuske of Jamestown, ND; one granddaughter, Paulina Kuske of Jamestown, ND; two sisters, Frieda Hauf and Gertrude (Vergil) Neumiller both of Medina, ND; and two brothers, Martin Hauf and Otto Hauf, both of Medina, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Rudy, Gust, and Bill; and one sister, Emma.

Funeral Service: 11:00AM - Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at English Lutheran Church - Medina, ND with Rev. Robert Pestal officiating.

Visitation: Monday, February 3, 2003 from 1:00PM to 9:00PM at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:30PM - Monday, February 3, 2003 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Medina Cemetery - Medina, ND in the spring.
