Surrounded by the love of his family, Walter Remmick, 87, of Jamestown ND received his angel wings and entered into his eternal resting place with God, on Monday December 22nd, 2014.
Walter was born March, 12th, 1927 in Cleveland ND, the eldest son of George and Elizabeth (Wiest) Remmick. He was raised and attended school in the Streeter area. He entered into the United States Army Air Corp in 1945 during WWII, earning the WWII Victory Metal. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to the family farm to help his father. He married the love of his life, Evelyn D. Lang on July 25th, 1948 in Streeter ND.
Walter and Evelyn moved to Jamestown where he was employed by MA Nashold. From 1950 to 1972, Walter and his family relocated to several locations due to his expertise in the construction of dams and nuclear power plants. These moves took them to Riverdale, ND for the Garrison Dam, Yankton, and SD for the Yankton Power House, St Lawrence Seaway in Massena and Niagara Falls, NY. Then onto Stockton, MO and Kewaunee, WI. He worked for the Westinghouse Company building the nuclear plant in Two Rivers WI before transferring back to Jamestown for the construction of the Ladish Malting Plant in Spiritwood, ND. His career ended with an industrial accident in 1972 leaving him disabled.
Evelyn entered into eternal life with God on October 30th 1999.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He belonged to the American Legion Post #14 and the Carpenters Union Local #46. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, and traveling. His most enjoyable times where spending time with family especially the grandbabies.
Walter is survived by 2 sons: Thomas Remmick and Rodney Remmick, Jamestown, ND
4 daughters: Sharon Strating, Maryville, MO, Deborah(Bernie) Schroeder, Sauk City, WI, Lynette Kriedeman and Gary Kriedeman Jamestown, ND, and Janelle Lindstrom, Jamestown, ND.
19 Grandchildren: Heather Strating, Amber Fuller, Ashley Strating, Thomas James(TJ) Fercho, Zachary Fercho, Christyn Schroeder, Emily (Steven) Udelhofen, Rebecca Schroeder, Alissa(Jeremy) Olson, Dylan(Kristin) Remmick, Cody(Megan) Remmick, Bailey(Brian) Smith, Shaun Kriedeman, Melissa(Kevin) Hanson, Matthew Kriedeman, Amy Taxis, Corey Lindstrom, Tiffany Lindstrom, Nickalis Lindstrom.
24 Great Grandchildren, many Nieces and Nephews, two very special friends whom he considered to be sons, Randy Kienzle and Carl Hetrick and his special Home Health Nursing angels.
1 Brother, Harold(Cindy) Remmick Harrisburg, OR, and 3 sisters, Irene Moos, Dickinson, ND, Janice(Jerry)Fargis, New Tazewell, TN, and Elizabeth “ Betty” (Gene) Farmer, Torrance, CA.
He was preceded into death by his parents, wife Evelyn, daughter Theresa Ann, granddaughter Jessica Sue Remmick, 7 sisters, Iona Stockburger, Esther Burkhardt, Alvina Gienger, Ruth Burkhardt, Bernice Phafl, Inez Siegner, Glayds Lostlen, 1 brother , Elmer Roemmich
Prayer service will be held Monday December 29th at 7:00pm in Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel,
Services will be held Tuesday December 30th, 2014 at 11:00am in St. John’s Lutheran Church, committal will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Jamestown.
Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 on Monday at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel and 10:00-11:00 Tuesday in St. John’s Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any Jamestown Veterans Organization or Boy Scouts of America.
