Walter ""Bud"" Schutt, 83, Eldridge, North Dakota died Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, North Dakota.
Mr. Schutt was born February 3, 1921 in Eldridge, the son of William and Clover (Strecht) Schutt. He grew up on the family farm north of Eldridge. He attended Eldridge School, where he was a member of the winning Eldridge basketball team. He graduated from high school in 1936 and continued farming and ranching with his father.
In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during WW II in Germany, France and Africa. While on leave from the Army, he married Ella Reule on January 8, 1943 in Port Clinton, Ohio. Following his honorable discharge from the Army in 1945, the couple continued on the family farm where they raised grain and cattle.
Mr. Schutt served on the Eldridge Township Board, the Eldridge School Board and the Eldridge Farmers Elevator Board. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Eagles, the National Buffalo Museum, the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame and St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown.
He enjoyed reading, particularly westerns, country music, dancing and going out to eat with Ella.
Bud is survived by his five sons, William (Jackie), Thomas (Sherry) and Wayne (Colleen), all of Jamestown, Leroy (Kathy), Centerville, WA and Douglas (Elizabeth), Spencer, WV, one brother, Paul (Shirley) Schutt, Caldesack, ID, one sister, Dorothy Stithem, Seattle, WA, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Ella Schutt.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Friday, April 16, 2004 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Rev. Dennis Ellingsen officiating.
Visitation: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Thursday, April 15, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Eldridge Cemetery, Eldridge, North Dakota.
