Wanda Hovland

Wanda Hovland, 76, Wimbledon, ND passed away Thursday, April 14 at Eventide Jamestown, surrounded by her loving family. Wanda (Hanson) Hovland was born November 22, 1939, at Mahnomen, Minnesota to Louis and Elnora (Schwarzrock) Hanson. She grew up in Mahnomen graduating from Mahnomen High School in 1957. She married Keith Hovland at Mahnomen on March 15, 1958. They moved to Finley, North Dakota where Keith worked for Great Plains Supply, and she worked for Farmers Union Insurance Company. Keith, Wanda, and their three boys moved to Wimbledon in 1969. She worked for the Farmers Union Oil Company. They moved to Beach, North Dakota in 1974, returning in 1975. She worked for the Dakota Inn as cook and also the Select Inn-Gladstone in Jamestown, North Dakota. In 2004, she started as assistant cook at Wimbledon-Courtenay School, retiring in 2013.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1986, being treasurer for 10 years. She enjoyed deer hunting, doing fill in puzzles, embroidering, and reading. She also enjoyed being at the lake every summer.
Wanda is survived by her husband of 58 years; two sons, Thomas (Patty) Hovland, Valley City, ND, Terry (Laura) Hovland, Wimbledon, ND; ex daughter-in-law, Anne Hovland, Wimbledon, ND; five grandchildren, Derek (Mindy) Hovland, Jessica (Jeff Swanson), Tanner Hovland, Brittani Hovland, Tessa Hovland; two step-grandchildren, Mike Carpenter, Chris (Allie) Carpenter; four great-grandchildren, Trevon and Kason Hovland, Matesi and Marleigh Carpenter; two brothers, Robert Hanson, Boise, ID, Ronald Hanson, Fargo, ND; two sisters, Joan (Ted) Lewis, Kennewick, WA, Connie (Randy) Grondahl, Fargo, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Timothy.

In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to J.R.M.C. Hospice or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wimbledon.

Funeral Service: 1:30 PM, Monday, April 18, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wimbledon, ND with Pastor Robert Hill, officiating.
Visitation: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, April 17 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wimbledon.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Sunday, April 17 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wimbledon.
Burial: Prairie View Cemetery, Wimbledon, ND.
