Wayne Nitschke, 56, Jud, North Dakota, died Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown after a long illness.
Wayne was born September 15, 1949 in Jamestown, the son of Alex and Helen (Gerdes) Nitschke. He graduated from Jud High School in 1968. Wayne attended Wyoming Tech from 1968-1969. He served in the National Guard from 1971-1977. Wayne worked on construction in Nevada for a short time, but was a farm laborer for most of his life.
Wayne was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Jud Rural Fire Department and the American Legion of Alfred Post 295 for 33 years.
He enjoyed bowling, playing cards and riding horse. He was always available and very helpful to residents in the community.
Wayne is survived by his mother, Helen of Jud; one brother, Rolin (Adeline) Nitschke, Jud; one sister, Mylene (Don, Jr.) Lee, Jamestown; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Nitschke, Jamestown and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Norman and his grandparents.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 22, 2005 at the Jud High School Gym in Jud, ND with Rev. Bryce Tahran officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, October 21, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Friday, October 21, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Jud Lutheran Cemetery, Jud, North Dakota.
