Wendell M. Simonsen

Wendell M. Simonsen, 93, Jamestown, ND passed away on May 11, 2017 at Ave Maria Village Nursing Home, Jamestown, ND. Wendell was born on September 23, 1923 at Kensal, ND to Carl and Marie (Christensen) Simonsen.

Wendell was mayor of Kensal, a farmer, businessman, long-time member of the South Central Regional Council, Stutsman County Farm Bureau, and served on many local, county, and state boards.

Wendell married Sally Helmstetler on May 3, 1947 and they lived in Kensal until moving to Jamestown in 2011. He was awarded outstanding citizen twice by two different governors for community services.

Wendell is survived by his wife, sons Kent (Denise), Kim (Shaw), one brother Peter, four grandsons, two granddaughters and eight great grandchildren. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Wendy Sargent and a brother Alton.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, May 15 at Knights of Columbus, Jamestown, ND.
