Wilbert Frederick Gasal, 88, Jamestown, ND died Friday, February 14, 2003 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown, ND. Wilbert was born December 14, 1914 on the family farm in Bloom Township, NE of Jamestown, the son of John Otto & Christina (Schlichter) Gasal. He attended school in Bloom Township, rural Jamestown. He entered the US Army November 5, 1941 at Ft. Snelling, MN, where he served in the Signal Corps and was stationed on the New Hebrides Islands in the Pacific Theatre. He was discharged on November 29, 1943. He married Muriel M. Carlson on October 13, 1946 in Jamestown, ND. They lived and farmed in Bloom Township, Northeast of Jamestown for 50 years.
Wilbert was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, the American Legion, V.F.W., Elks, and Eagles. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, reading, and visiting with his friends.
He is survived by three sons, Gayne (Celeste), Jamestown, ND, John (Kay), Minneapolis, MN, Steve (Denise), Jamestown, ND, one daughter, Betty (Don) McCommon Jr, Bismarck, ND. seven Grandchildren, four Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter (Susan), three brothers, (Leroy, William, Robert), two sisters, (Esther Krause and Marie McCreedy)..
