Wilda "Nell" Krueger

Wilda Nell Krueger, 88, Jamestown, North Dakota died Friday, February 25, 2011 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, after a long struggle with Alzheimers.

Wilda Nell Strahan Krueger was born December 13, 1922 in Amite, Louisiana, the daughter of James and Velma (Lee) Strahan. She graduated from high school in Amite, LA and from Louisiana State University in 1944. Nell married Russell Krueger in 1944 and moved to North Dakota in 1946. Nell worked on the farm with Russell until she started teaching in the rural Sydney township school in 1958 for two years and in Lenton township for one year before going to work in the Montpelier Public School. She taught a variety of classes in Montpelier, including Home Economics and she was the school librarian.

Nell was active in the Homemakers Club, 4-H and judging at the Stutsman County Fair. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, reading and gardening.

Nell is survived by her husband, Russell, Jamestown; two sons, Russell LeRoy (Karen) Krueger, Fergus Falls, MN and Lynn (Lisa) Krueger, Montpelier, ND; six grandchildren, Derek (Vicki) Krueger, Modesto, CA, AmyJo (Trevor) Mountjoy, Aspen, CO, Beau (Jen) Krueger, Fergus Falls, MN, Courtnay (Chris) Harper, Minneapolis, MN, Brady (Becca) Krueger, Minneapolis, MN, Chelsea (Jorge) Cruz, Fergus Falls, MN; 9 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Paige, Brent, Owen, Ari, Rhys, Charlotte, Van, and Chloe; one brother, Ray (Billie) Strahan; and three sisters, Doris Toney, Peggy (Bill) Rester and Pat (Robert) Hall, all of Louisiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Earl, Charles, who died at 3 months, an unnamed infant; and one sister, Elizabeth.

Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Suzanne Orlopp officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 1 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 1 at Eddy Funeral Chapel

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota

The family suggests memorials be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church, Salvation Army or McCoy Ministries, all of Jamestown.
