Wilfred Hahne, 61, Fredonia, ND, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck, ND.
Wilfred Frank Hahne was born October 23, 1945 at Eureka, SD, the son of Jacob and Elizabeth (Bauer) Hahne. He was raised on a farm near Herreid, SD, attended country school and graduated from Herreid High School in 1964. He worked in construction for a time and also at the arsenal in Minneapolis, MN. He entered the United States Army on September 20, 1967, served in Vietnam and was discharged in 1969. Following his discharge, he returned to Minneapolis and worked for Foley Manufacturing as a punch press operator for 3 years. On July 11, 1970, he married Betty Wald at St. Michael's Church in Herreid, SD. In 1973, they moved to Fredonia, ND where he farmed for a short time and then went to work for the Farmer's Elevator where he continued for 31 years. He also worked for Fargo Assembly in Lehr, ND for the past year.
Wilfred was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, ND and the Fredonia American Legion for the past 33 years. He enjoyed his gardens, watching his vedgetable grow, harvesting and preparing them and making beet wine. His greatest enjoyment was interacting with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, Fredonia, ND; a daughter, Denise (Doug) Palmer, Fredonia, ND; 2 sons: Dennis (Tana) Hahne, Forbes, ND and Russell (Dawn) Hahne, Kulm, ND; 8 grandchildren, Tiffany, Heather and Zachary Palmer, Kyla and Lexi Jensen and Marissa, Makayla and Frank Hahne; 4 siblings: Lorraine Collins, Selby, SD; Tom (Myra) Hahne, Selby, SD; Mary Hahne, Linton, ND and Donald (Jolene) Hahne, Lehr, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers: Robert, Bernard, Tony, Arnold, Joseph and 1 sister, Loretta.
Funeral - 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, ND.
Prayer Service - 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2006 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, ND
Visitation - 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Interment - Mount Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley, ND
