William G. Dahlstrom

November 3, 1931 — March 27, 2006

William G. Dahlstrom, born November 3, 1931, left this earthly life on March 27, 2006. He was born on a farm 3 miles east of Pettibone, ND to Verla (Bellows) and Walter Dahlstrom. He graduated from high school in Jamestown in 1949.

Bill enlisted in the USAF in January 1952 where he served 4 years during the Korean War. While attending gunnery school in Denver, CO, Bill met his wife to be, Billye Fitzgerald. They married in Fargo, ND on August 20, 1954. Bill was assigned as a tail gunner on a B-29 during that period and was stationed in Japan. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in January 1956.

After returning to Jamestown with his bride, they began a family and have lived here ever since.

Bill worked in many areas in the Jamestown area, but one of his highlights was in December 1964 when he leased a newly purchased Standard Oil Truck Stop and opened Bill's Truck Stop and Café on January 3, 1956 until January 3, 1972.

After training and licensing, Bill was hired as the city assessor of Jamestown in May 1975, until his retirement in December 1993.

Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing, taking trips with his family, spending time with his family and friends at their cabin, feeding his birds and squirrels and just being at home.

He is survived by his wife, Billye Dahlstrom, Jamestown; their three children, Laura Dahlstrom, Redmond, WA, Dale (Chris) Dahlstrom, Evansville, IN and Linda (John) Blanco, Glendale, AZ; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Leland Dahlstrom, Jamestown; one niece, Carol Christ and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life service will be held at High Acres Manor Chapel, Jamestown, at 1:30 PM, Friday, March 31, 2006 with Rev. Dick Boyd officiating.

Memorial benevolence may be donated to the American Heart Association in his honor.
