William Krivobok, 91, died peacefully Sunday evening, June 10, 2012 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
William Krivobok was born on October 4, 1920 in Killdeer, ND, the son of Sam and Horpina Krivobok. As a child, Bill lived in a sod house that his parents built.
He attended country school as a child and graduated from Killdeer High School in 1939. In high school he was a star football player. Al Cassel came to the farm and recruited Bill to play for Jamestown College. He attended Jamestown College from 1940-1943, lettering in football and track. He also attended Mayville teachers College and received his teaching degree from Dickinson Teachers College in 1949 after being discharged from the US Navy.
He married Ovieda Sovig on June 2, 1945 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown. They made their home in Killdeer where they both taught school, and he coached three sports. In 1952, they moved to Stanley to coach and teach commercial subjects. In 1953, he began his teaching and coaching career in Jamestown. Bill was an assistant coach for football, basketball, and junior high track.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and his loving wife of 62 years.
Bill is survived by his nieces, Barbara (Ken Sjoberg) Peters, Sally (John) Diener, Karla (Bruce) Zimney, Kathy Ackley, Kami (Raymond) Daly, and Lisa Zahn; one nephew, Mark (Nadine) Sovig; brother-in-law, Otto (Marge) Sovig; sister-in-law, Edith Sanders; special cousin, Helen Robinson; and several great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his current caregivers that have taken care of him in his home for the past 4 years: Marilyn Teckenburg, Kyra Kainz, Jennifer Waters, Kami Schulz, Sara Silberg, Kaley and Kelsey Stiefel, and Michele Carstens; and former caregivers, Heidi Fiechtner, Melissa Mutchler, and Ruth Ross; and his best friend, Buddy, his dog.
Funeral Service:
5:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
