William P. Schock

June 21, 1915 — March 25, 2003

William P. ""Bill"" Schock, 87, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at the Jamestown Hospital. Bill was born June 21, 1915 on the family farm, located 9 miles northeast of Lehr, North Dakota, to Phillip and Katherina (Obenauer) Schock. He attended school at the Lautt School District. He married Rachel Metzger on December 10, 1950 in Jamestown. They made their home 1/2 mile north of the family farm where they farmed and he worked construction around the area. In September 1965 they moved to Jamestown where he was employed at the Anne Carlsen School until his retirement in 1982. He kept busy by going for coffee, rebuilding old lawnmowers and doing wood projects. He also enjoyed horses and having his granddaughters and great-grandchildren around him.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel, one daughter, Kathy (Arlow) Bien, Bismarck, ND, one son Wallace ""Wally"" Schock, Jamestown, two granddaughters, Lisa (Steve) Fortner, Apple Valley, MN and Amanda Bien and special friend Chris Geiger, Mandan, ND, three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas & Tiffany Fortner, all of Apple Valley, MN, one sister, Eva Widmer, Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother, three sisters, Caroline, Martha & Katie, two brothers, Emanuel and Johnny.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 27, 2003, St. Paul's United Methodist, Jamestown with the Rev. Donald C. Crippen officiating.

Prayer Service: 7:30 PM, Wednesday, March 26, 2003., Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Visitation: 1:00 to 9:00 PM, Wednesday, March 26, 2003, Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
