William Zottnick

William "Bill" Zottnick, 87, Edgeley, ND, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at his home in Edgeley after suffering a severe stroke in May of 2009.

William Emil Zottnick was born June 22, 1922 in Pollock, SD, the son of Henry and Christine (Heyn) Zottnick. The family moved to Braddock, ND where Bill was raised and attended school. He graduated from Braddock High School in 1941. Bill joined the United States Army in May of 1945 and served in Germany until he was honorably discharged in October of 1946. He returned to North Dakota and moved with his family to Edgeley, ND where he farmed with his parents. He later attended plumbing school and with his partner, James Mathson, started the Edgeley Plumbing and Heating business. In 1956, he married Vera Tomlin Huckeby at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Edgeley, ND. In 1960, they were blessed with the birth of their first son, William Jay.

Bill was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and served on several church boards. He was a volunteer for the Edgeley Fire Department, a 50 year member of the Edgeley VFW, a volunteer for the Edgeley Jolly Seniors and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed reading, bowling and sports and played amateur baseball for Edgeley for many years. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife; son, William J. (Linda) Zottnick, Northglenn, CO; a grandson, Billy; a brother, Ronald (Dorothy) Zottnick, Albuquerque, NM; 2 sisters: Ruby (Ted) Mueller, Madelia, MN; Helen Zottnick, Billings, MT; a special double-cousin, Evelyn Naaden, Mesa, AZ; 3 sisters-in-law: Faye Heim, Edgeley, ND; DeLaine Tomlin, Jamestown, ND; Irene Zottnick, Bismarck, ND and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ernest and a sister, Irene.

Memorial Service - 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2010 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Edgeley, ND

Interment - Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, ND
