Willie Bartle, 77, Jamestown, North Dakota died July 30, 2003 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown. Willie was born June 27, 1926 in Russell Township, LaMoure County the son of Orville and Belle (Hird) Bartle. He was born in the house that he lived in for about 65 years. He attended country school and went to high school in Edgeley, graduating in 1944. He farmed from 1948 to 1990. He married Pearl Hirth on October 16, 1954 in Dickey, ND. Willie served on the LaMoure Creamery Board, Russell Township Board, various church boards of both Willow Grove and Dickey Methodist churches and the Edgeley Alumni Assoc. Willie was also involved in the state Republican party. Health problems caused him to retire from farming and they moved to Jamestown in the fall of 1992. They then joined the First Church of the Nazarene in Jamestown in 1997.

After his retirement he enjoyed building tractors and other wooden toys that he showed in several parades and gave to many children.

Willie is survived by his wife, Pearl of Jamestown, two daughters, Tanya (Kenneth) Worrall, Rolla, ND (two grandsons, Travis & Jonathan Worrall) and Renae (Al) Merkel, Billings, MT, a brother, Dean (Naomi) Bartle, Fargo, ND and two sisters-in-law, Marion Bartle, LaMoure, ND and Jo Bartle, Mesa, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, baby sister and four brothers, LeRoy, Kenneth, Glen and Leland.

Funeral Service: 1:30 PM, Saturday, August 2, 2003 at the First Church of the Nazrene with Revs. Richard Reynolds and Donald Crippen officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 9:00 PM, Friday, August 1, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Home

Burial: Mt. Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, North Dakota.
