Wilma Larson, 83, Jamestown, ND passed away peacefully Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Jamestown.
Wilma Christianson was born October 25, 1929 to Willie and Lena (Fosse) Christianson at their farm home near Enderlin, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at West St. Olaf Lutheran Church near their farm. She attended country school and graduated from Enderlin High School in May 1947. In September she was employed by Ottertail Power Company in their Enderlin office. In 1949, she was transferred to their Jamestown office. She was married to Purl Larson on April 2, 1950 at the First Lutheran Church parsonage in Enderlin. They made their home in Jamestown and became proud parents of two daughters. She started working for the City of Jamestown and retired in 1994 after more than 30 years of service. Wilma bowled for many years and was inducted into the Jamestown Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. She enjoyed playing cards and belonged to a whist club for over 40 years. Wilma was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and in 1982, made a trip to Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Rod) McGruder, Olathe, KS; grandsons, Matt McGruder, Olathe, KS and Ryan (Erin) McGruder, Overland Park, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Purl in 1971, daughter LaVonne in 2010, two brothers, one sister, one niece and one nephew.
