Yvonne Schulte, 77, Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at her home in Jamestown, ND.

Yvonne Eleanor Guttenberg was born March 9, 1932 in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Casper and Eleanor (Landsberger) Guttenberg. She was raised in Hazelton, ND and Dawson, ND, where she attended school. While at Dawson High School, she played on girls' basketball teams that twice won the State Championship. She attended Bismarck State College and worked for several years at the North Dakota State Capitol in the Social Security Division. While living in Bismarck she was active in community theater. On September 7, 1959, she married the love of her life, James Edward Schulte at the Church of St. Anne in Bismarck, ND. They made their home in Jamestown, ND, where they raised their 5 children.

Yvonne enjoyed reading, listening to music, viewing her favorite music programs, singing, playing the piano, and tending her flowers. Her family and friends will treasure her gift of intelligent and spirited conversation on a wide variety of topics ranging from politics to music. She had a quick wit and an enjoyable and uplifting sense of humor. Her unwavering faith was an inspiration to her family and all who knew her. She particularly enjoyed Fr. John McGinnis' Wednesday afternoon spiritual visits.

Yvonne was a devoted wife and true partner to her husband, Jim, for more than 50 years. She always put her family first and loved following and supporting the activities and interests of her precious children and grandchildren. They will forever be filled with the legacy of her love.

Grateful to have shared her life are her husband, James, and their children: Carmelle (Keith) Nelson, Fargo, ND; Beth (Kelly) DeKrey, Bismarck, ND; Susan (Tim) Wanzek, Inver Grove Heights, MN; Brian (Rebecca) Schulte, Oakdale, MN; Craig Schulte, Fargo, ND; 10 grandchildren: Eric, Ryan and Matthew Nelson; Lindsey and Landon DeKrey; Brittany, Nicholas and Nolan Wanzek; Lauren and Austin Schulte; 2 brothers: Ron (Norma) Guttenberg, Glasgow, MT; Tom (Donna) Guttenberg, Glasgow, MT; 2 sisters: Mary Young, New Prague, MN and Claudia Zeeb, Menoken, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral - 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND

Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND

Visitation - 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Interment - Mount Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley, ND
