Carol Malard

Carol Maybelle Malard, 80, of Jamestown passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 14, 2017. Carol was born to Peter and Enola (Glau) Heth on June 24, 1937 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She grew up in Jamestown and Tuttle, ND graduating from Tuttle high school in 1955. She played for the Wing/Tuttle basketball team. Carol attended Bismarck Junior College prior to marrying Virgil Malard in October 28, 1956 in Tuttle. They lived in several North Dakota towns, including Tuttle, Bismarck, Menoken, Sterling, McClusky and Valley City before finally settling in Jamestown for the last 45 years.

She was a stay at home Mom that enjoyed raising her four children being active in all their sporting/scouting and musical events. Carol enjoyed doing genealogy with her son, eating out with friends and was involved with Sojourners circle and was the social action chairperson at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Carol is survived by her husband of 60 years, Virgil, son, Bruce (Andrea) of Sterling, AK, daughter, Jennifer Schonauer (Rick Olson), Jamestown. Sister, Joyce (George) Avent, San Pablo, CA. Five Grandchildren, Matthew Schonauer, Eric Malard, Chris Malard, Lee Malard, Nicholas Malard, and two great grandchildren, Kelso and Deklyn, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Brian and Brent, sisters, Dorothy, Eleanor, Shirley and Mary, brothers, Kenneth and Lorene.

Funeral service; 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 21 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Pastor Joel Winckler officiating.

Visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, September 20, with a prayer service to follow at 7:00, at Eddy Funeral Home.
