Jerry E. Finch, 83, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown, ND.

Jerry was born June 13, 1922 in Woodbury Township, Stutsman County, North Dakota, the son of Elmer and Carrie (Dahl) Finch. Jerry graduated from Jamestown High School in 1940. After graduation he worked at Beck Clothing. He served with the U.S. Air Force during WWII as a radio operator in Guam. On September 17, 1944 he married Ferne Heille in Belleville, ILL. Jerry was honorably discharged on March 1, 1946 from the separation center in Fort Lewis, WA. After the service he was involved with Norm and Jerry's Hamburger Shop. Jerry joined the U.S. Postal Service in 1949 until retiring on August 13, 1977 as Assistant Post Master.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, VFW and American Legion. Jerry enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Ferne, Jamestown; one daughter, Sharon (Tony) Ingle, West Fargo, ND; one son, David (Pam) Finch, Aurora, CO; four grandchildren, Jennifer Halvorson, Andrew Ingle, Kirsten (Jayme) Berger, Ryan Finch and two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Phoebe Halverson; two brothers, William (Lucille) Finch, Jamestown and Elmer, Jr. (Cleone) Finch, Glenfield, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Stanley.

Funeral service: 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Pastor Doug Opp, officiating.

Visitation: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday, April 10 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown

Family will be receiving friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
